Yet another former airfield circuit, Snetterton lies 18 miles southwest of Norwich and was opened in 1951 by Oliver Sear after being "discovered" by the Aston Martin Owners Club. The original 2.71-mile track remained unchanged until 1965 when a chicane was added after Coram Curve. In the early 1960's Formula 1 cars contested the Lombank Trophy and the Autosport 3 Hour race was an International Sports Car event. However by the 1970s the circuit had reverted to national racing and a number of modifications were made that reduced the lap length to just less than 2 miles. It is still a very busy track with numerous meetings every year, Formula 3 and the British Saloon Car Championship bringing in the crowds as does the innovation of night racing and is a popular testing venue.
Current Circuit Length: 1.952 miles.
